Roasted Fava Beans

Fava beans or as they are sometimes known as Broad beans has been a staple in Middle Eastern countries dating back to the time of the pharaohs. They are a great source of iron, folate, magnesium, protein, and fiber.

In this recipe, I roasted the fava beans after boiling them to make the ultimate spicy crunchy snack. 

Roasted Fava Beans

Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked fava beans
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • lots of salt
  • Pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/ tsp Paprika
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 350F = 180c
  2. Dry the fava beans in a towel VERY WELL then spread on a nonstick baking sheet
  3. Sprinkle some salt
  4. Bake for 20-25 mins
  5. Remove from the oven and add the remaining spices
  6. Add oil here if you desire
  7. Return to the oven and bake for another 5-10 minutes
  8. Turn off the oven and let it crisp and cool down
  9. Store in an open container to keep them crispy!
