Roasted Fava Beans
Fava beans or as they are sometimes known as Broad beans has been a staple in Middle Eastern countries dating back to the time of the pharaohs. They are a great source of iron, folate, magnesium, protein, and fiber.
In this recipe, I roasted the fava beans after boiling them to make the ultimate spicy crunchy snack.
Roasted Fava Beans
Ingredients
- 2 cups cooked fava beans
- 1/2 tsp cumin
- lots of salt
- Pepper to taste
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1/ tsp Paprika
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 350F = 180c
- Dry the fava beans in a towel VERY WELL then spread on a nonstick baking sheet
- Sprinkle some salt
- Bake for 20-25 mins
- Remove from the oven and add the remaining spices
- Add oil here if you desire
- Return to the oven and bake for another 5-10 minutes
- Turn off the oven and let it crisp and cool down
- Store in an open container to keep them crispy!
