No Peeling Applesauce

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset I know it's not apple season yet, but for some reason I bought a huge box of apples thinking I can go through them, but I realized that apples are not as easy to eat as bananas. I hate to let food go to waste and since I'd rather make my own apple sauce than buy it packaged with all the other nasty stuff. No thanks.

I hate to let food go to waste and apple sauce is the number one recipe that, well, uses apples. Plus, I'd rather make my own applesauce than buy it packaged with all the preservatives, sugar, plus they mostly use peeled apples. So no thanks.

Honestly, the hardest part of this recipe is cutting your apples. The best part? Your house will smell AMAZING!

It's tangy yet cozy. Warm, sweet, and spicy. I know that this recipe yields for a lot of apple sauce, but before you start worrying about what you'd do with it all, let me give you some ideas

Homemade Applesauce

Ingredients:

  • 12 Gala apples diced
  • 1/2 cup lemon juice
  • 2 1/2 cups filtered water
  • cinnamon to taste and/or cinnamon stick
  • pinch of ground cardamom and ginger

Steps:

  1. Cut the apples and add them to a large saucepan
  2. Top with lemon juice
  3. Add spices then top with water (the water will not cover the apples! Apples will release their own water later)
  4. Bring to a boil then let it simmer for 15 minutes
  5. Let it cool down (this will take a while)
  6. then transfer to a high-speed blender or a food processor and puree until smooth.
  7. Store in an air-tight jar in the fridge or the freezer.
