After my full body laser appointment, I came back home feeling like a warrior and wondering why I do that to myself. Is our culture to blame? Maybe. All I know is that personally, hair in general on my body or even my head bothers me. Maybe it bothers me because from a young age I was taught that women should not have any body hair and it is considered unclean. But at the same time, I like hairy arms, leg, or whatever on other females, but on my skin, no. So I don't know what's going on.
Every time I go through a laser appointment I ask myself the same questions. Why the hell am I doing this to myself? Why do we care so much about body hair, why do we even have it? Google helped me a bit.
While humans have developed clothing and other means of keeping warm, the hair found on the head serves as primary sources of heat insulation and cooling (when sweat evaporates from soaked hair) as well as protection from ultra-violet radiation exposure. The function of hair in other locations is debated.
So they don't know yet for sure. I guess I'll continue my laser treatment.
If you've never done laser before; I'll try my best to describe how painful it can be. It's like a stinging feeling that burns through your skin. If you think wax is painful, then you don't know what pain is. Now not all laser treatments are equal. First of all, it depends on where, thighs and bikini are killers; personally I think the rest of the body is tolerable. Also, the more you progress through the treatments, the more painful they become, because they raise the degree. I personally think that the darker your skin is the more painful it is, but that could just be me being bias.
What was I saying, yeah so when I got back home after my laser appointment; I started making this recipe for the next morning, but when I got done, I sat on the kitchen counter and started eating it. Oh, I enjoy that moment so much! All I was focusing on is how good those oats tasted. In a way, it was so peaceful. I wanted to remember that moment forever, so I took a picture.
This recipe can be eaten right away, or left in the fridge overnight to thicken up. Both ways are delicious. When left overnight, it's chewy and chocolatey, all in the right ways.
Peanut Butter & Cacao Oats
- 1 cup oats
- 2 cups almond milk or soy milk
- 2 tbsp chia seeds
- 2 tbsp ground flaxseed
- 1 tbsp raw cacao powder
- 1/4 tsp pure vanilla extract
- Sweetener of choice. I used a few drops of stevia
- 2-4 tbsp natural crunchy peanut butter (raw if you prefer)
- 1 tbsp cacao nibs
- Optional: goji berries
- In an airtight container, mix the almond/soy milk, chia seeds, flaxseeds, vanilla, and sweetener. Shake very well. Check the bottom for stuck chia
- Add the cacao and shake very well. Until you don't see any powder in the mix
- Add the oats and press them down and swirl. Add the peanut butter and swirl again.
- I like my oats not very well mix with everything. It makes it more interesting. Feel free to mix them very well if that's what you like
- Add the cacao nibs and goji berries
- Eat right away or leave it in the fridge for some overnight oats. ONO?
